How Kyriba accelerates innovation across teams by transforming operations with Dust

Kyriba: Accelerating Innovation with Dust

Kyriba, a global leader in liquidity performance, partnered with Dust to  enhance internal operations through specialized AI assistants. Multiple departments in Kyriba are using Dust platform to simplify complex information, accelerate sales cycles, and close knowledge gaps among team members.

"Dust is helping us transform Kyriba's operations by streamlining workflows, enabling rapid access to insights, and fostering a culture of continuous innovation across the organization."

Kyriba’s mission in the financial world

For more than 20 years, Kyriba’s market-leading liquidity performance platform has been helping Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) and treasurers to connect, protect, forecast, and optimize their liquidity. The company's mission is to tackle what they term 'liquidity gridlock' - a common challenge in the financial world caused by organizational silos, disparate data sources, and manual processes.  Kyriba currently supports users and liquidity transactions in over 170 countries with close to 3000 clients worldwide.

At the heart of Kyriba's success is a deep-rooted commitment to innovation. "At Kyriba, our approach to innovation is centered on creating a conducive environment where employees from all departments and levels can contribute innovative ideas," explains Boris Lipiainen, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Kyriba.

This approach extends beyond internal processes to their strategic partnerships, as evidenced by their collaboration with Dust. By leveraging Dust's platform to build custom AI-specialized assistants, Kyriba has found a way to amplify its existing innovation approach, enabling employees across various departments to create tailored solutions that address specific operational challenges and drive efficiency.

Choosing Dust platform was an informed decision

When evaluating AI platforms, Kyriba was looking for a solution that would provide a seamless user experience while meeting their security requirements.

"We evaluated numerous Large Language Model options to understand which tool would best serve our employees. Dust stood out because it integrates multiple LLMs into a single platform, eliminating the need to choose among them. This means we could access a variety of LLMs at the cost of one, with prices comparable to OpenAI's per-employee pricing."

Security was also a paramount concern for Kyriba. Dust’s compliance with GDPR and SOC2 standards eased Kyriba’s concerns about security. “Dust offered a level of security and data privacy that was essential for us but not available from other options,” Boris adds.

Promoting innovation across the company with Dust platform

Kyriba's journey with Dust began with a vision to empower employees to prototype ideas more efficiently. The company adopted a community-driven approach to AI implementation, encouraging employees to experiment freely with their ideas. This strategy has led to organic adoption and creativity across various departments.

To foster knowledge sharing and showcase successes, Kyriba implemented a unique monthly initiative called ‘Demo Days’. "Our primary requirement was for teams to showcase their achievements at a monthly event we call 'Demo Days.’ This allowed them to see firsthand how different departments are successfully leveraging Dust.

"By empowering individuals across various departments to integrate Dust into their own workflows, we witnessed organic adoption and creativity. We quickly realized that the Dust platform is more than just a tool for post-ideation; it's a catalyst for innovation, stimulating idea generation as employees engage with it."

Kyriba's first major success with Dust was the development of an AI assistant to support the business development team by closing knowledge gaps and enhancing the team’s prospecting efforts. Since then, there has been remarkable adoption across multiple departments including Engineering, Product, Legal, and HR, each leveraging the platform in unique ways to meet their specific needs. The support team at Kyriba also transitioned from a previously tailored internal LLM solution to Dust.

"It became evident that Dust could serve as a powerful "co-pilot" for both onboarding new employees and supporting long-term staff across various functions. From Customer Support to Software Engineering, everyone could leverage Dust as a knowledgeable buddy to enhance their productivity and efficiency."

Improving Client facing operations with Dust

Kyriba has developed two company-wide specialized AI assistants using the Dust platform, that have significantly impacted their Sales operations. These assistants focus on RFP processes and financial risk management support for customers.

RFP Assistant for improving pre-sales efficiency

The Solution Engineering team, also known as the pre-sales team, developed a dedicated RFP AI assistant that has significantly improved their workflow. This specialized assistant has enabled team members to access crucial information seamlessly while engaging with customers or answering RFPs, eliminating the need for extensive system logins and specialized training.

Before the AI assistant, team members had to log into a structured system, have a specific license, and undergo training to access relevant information. Also, a team member with highly specific technical knowledge previously needed to join customer calls that lasted hours, only to speak for five minutes or not at all. With the AI assistant, other team members can now cover for this specialist, optimizing team efficiency and resource allocation.

Financial Risk Module assistant for simplifying complex information

Another impactful AI assistant is the one focused on the company's Financial Risk module. This specialized AI assistant addresses the challenge of going through extensive, complex documentation by providing simplified, easy-to-understand answers to business and customer questions.

With a simple command in Slack, teams can effortlessly share detailed internal information on financial risk in a highly digestible format. Boris notes, "This has benefited multiple teams, including Support, Professional Services, and Solution Engineering, by enabling them to quickly access and share crucial information, improving their speed, accuracy, and productivity."

Significant time savings across Kyriba with Dust platform

The integration of Dust AI assistants into Kyriba's daily operations has yielded significant efficiency gains across the organization. To quantify these improvements, Kyriba conducted an internal survey, asking employees to estimate their weekly time savings attributed to the use of AI assistants.

The results show how Dust platform is improving work processes and boosting productivity throughout the company. Here's a breakdown of the survey findings:

  • 7% of users save more than 5 hours weekly
  • 14% save 3 to 5 hours weekly
  • 42% save 1 to 3 hours weekly
  • 32% save 30 minutes to 1 hour weekly

These figures demonstrate that over half of Kyriba's Dust users are saving at least an hour per week, with a significant portion saving multiple hours.

When scaled across the entire organization, this translates to thousands of hours saved annually. This reclaimed time allows employees to focus on higher-value tasks, such as strategic planning, creative problem-solving, and enhancing customer relationships. The widespread impact of these AI assistants is not just in time saved but in the qualitative improvement of work output and employee satisfaction.

Building an AI-agile, community-driven company

Kyriba plans to maintain its community-driven approach to AI integration. “This allows us to remain agile and innovative internally while addressing pressing market demands to provide AI solutions to our customers and partners,” Boris explains. The company's future plans revolve around three key areas: expanding AI usage in customer-facing roles, continuing internal productivity initiatives, and leveraging AI for customer and partner benefit. "We anticipate that as our usage of Dust continues to mature, it will increasingly influence our strategic decisions and broader organizational goals," Boris concludes.
