We've shipped several features to help you work more efficiently with your Dust assistants: advanced reasoning capabilities for complex use cases, Deepseek in Dust, assistant user feedback loop, new files formats and more!

We're introducing reasoning capabilities to Dust through a thoughtful integration of DeepSeek R1 and OpenAI O1 models. Here's what you need to know:

What is "Reasoning"?

Unlike standard language models that generate responses based on pattern matching, reasoning models break down complex problems into explicit logical steps. They excel at tasks requiring careful analysis, like solving math problems or dissecting complex arguments.

Why as a capability?

While reasoning models excel at complex analysis, they're slower and more resource-intensive than standard models. By making reasoning available as a capability you can enable, your assistants can tap into this power only when needed, keeping simple interactions fast and efficient.

What to expect:

  • Better handling of multi-step problems
  • More detailed explanations when needed
  • Slower response times for reasoning tasks

🧠 New DeepSeek models Meet our new AI models:

  • DeepSeek R1: A reasoning specialist that takes time to think through complex problems step-by-step. Available as a global agent upon request (contact support@dust.tt)
  • The DeepSeek model runs on secure infrastructure through Fireworks.ai and their US-based servers. A Zero Data Retention policy applies.

🔄 Better assistants: share feedback and complete more complex requests

  • You can now provide feedback on assistant responses and share conversations with builders to help improve the assistant’s performance.
  • Builders can access feedback stats to monitor assistant quality.
  • Assistants can now handle more complex requests by processing up to 8 steps (previously 3) to generate an answer, with a maximum of 12 steps for complex requests.

🤝 Meeting and sales meeting transcripts

  • Process and analyze Modjo meeting transcripts, similar to our Gong integration. The integration supports both personal and company-wide transcript synchronization.
  • Google Meet integration now uses a restricted access scope, enhancing privacy by only accessing meeting-specific files.

🔌 New capabilities when bringing Dust to where you work: Slack and Chrome

  • Files shared in Slack threads (images, PDFs, docs, up to 10MB) are now automatically included when summoning @dust.
  • Browser extension v0.0.5 adds conversation feedback, EU region support, and enhanced SSO workspace support.

💬 Improved conversation experience

  • Conversations are now sorted by last activity for easier access to ongoing discussions.
  • The conversation interface adapts to different screen sizes, making messages more readable across devices.

📄 New file format and granular file selection

  • In conversation, attached PDFs with image-based text are now automatically processed using OCR.
  • You can now upload and work with additional file formats, including PowerPoint, Python, YAML, and various programming languages.
  • When building or editing an assistant, you can now select specific files from folders more granularly as opposed to the entire folder.

✨ New compliance framework and easier member management

  • Data security is a make-or-break for Dust. The Dust platform is GDPR compliant, SOC2 Type II certified, and now HIPAA compliant, enabling US healthcare companies to process Protected Health Information (PHI) safely. Enterprise plan admins can also decide to set up custom data retention duration for the workspace conversations. Visit our Trust Center.
  • Admins can now streamline member invitations and add up to 100 members at once (available for workspaces with 50+ members)
